About this brand

Where the brand comes from

Cracked Armour was started in 2018 by Mark Long, a former Canadian law enforcement officer. After fifteen years on the job — and the kind of accumulated trauma that comes with murders, suicides and violent assault calls — he came within hours of taking his own life. The team around him got him into treatment in California, and the brand grew out of what he found there: that recovery from PTSD is possible, but only when warriors are surrounded by people who have walked the same road.

The mission is simple. Raise awareness for PTSD, TBI and mental health. Build an army of people repping the gear so that anyone struggling sees the message: you are not alone. Channel the proceeds into a recovery program that doesn't ask warriors to fight the system as well as the trauma.

Atkinson Outfitters carries Cracked Armour because the cause is the same one that runs through our customer base — rural Ontario, hunters and anglers, folks who served or who lost someone who did. If you wear the gear, you're part of the message.

The cause

The Returning Warriors Ranch

Proceeds from Cracked Armour go toward the Returning Warriors Ranch in Bishopville, Nova Scotia — a PTSD recovery program built for Canadian warriors who still struggle. A trauma-informed, peer-led space where the path forward starts among people who've been there. No warrior should die at their own hand because of a lack of funding, and the Ranch exists so they don't have to.
